YOUTH INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION
An exciting program for SAT-7 ACADEMY aims to inspire youth by creating awareness of various interesting events in the region, and encourages parents to take an active interest in their children’s future. iNews encourages outoung viewers to pursue their passions.
George Makeen, SAT-7’s Arabic Channels Programming Director, has often been quoted saying that the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is a region hungry for good role models. The region needs leaders and people to look up to, who provide good examples in society and who can inspire the new generation to excel and aspire for better lives.
A PROGRAM THAT TALKS TO YOUTH
And so, it is with great excitement that George describes the new program, iNEWS, scheduled to air on the new channel SAT-7 ACADEMY. This youthful current affairs program features news about a variety of character-growth events such as concerts, theatre, art and cultural exhibitions.
“What makes this program special is that youth are talking to youth,” explains Makeen. “The episodes are quick and short, they work well on TV as well as on social media.”
INSPIRING STORIES FROM YOUTH
The program also shares inspiring personal stories. On one of the episodes, a 17-year-old Egyptian girl tells her story of winning a national science competition, where she specialised in the subject of neurology. She tells how she has been selected to represent Egypt in an international competition set to be held in the USA and how she overcame her self-doubts to accomplish this goal. She went further on to explain how both her parents encouraged her and strengthened her so she could believe in herself: “I always thought that scientists were better than me, but my parents tell me that we are all the same and I can be a scientist too.” Testimonies such as these, both inspire teenagers and awaken parents to realise that they can play a role in encouraging their children in the right direction for their lives.
“YES I CAN DO THAT TOO!”
iNEWS is an ICON media production in partnership with SAT-7. 60 episodes have been produced so far, and it aims to reach teenage viewers and young adults. The program’s objective is to inspire its audiences and widen their horizons by sharing stories that will encourage young viewers to pursue their passions and to think “Yes I can do that too!”
