Battered by war, an old family home in Lebanon seemed destined for dereliction. But now, the apartment has been stunningly renovated into a beautiful studio space for sharing children’s stories of redemption and transformation. The story of Hagar, a Kurdish refugee from Syria, was filmed there and broadcast on SAT-7 KIDS last week.

It is an extremely difficult and dangerous time to be a child in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). On World Children’s Day (20 November), we consider the challenges they are facing and how SAT-7 is supporting young people and their families with prayer, advice, and the comforting message of God’s unceasing care.

As new figures reveal that one in three children in the Middle East are living in conflict zones, SAT-7’s programs are addressing their needs, providing support and promoting peace across the region. According to reports by Save the Children, more than one in six children worldwide live in areas of armed conflict, with the Middle East having the highest regional figure at a staggering 39%.

“We are all beautiful in God's eyes,” says presenter Nora Yazırlıoğlu on a recent episode of SAT-7 TÜRK’s new children’s program Great News, “because God made us with all His love in His image.” Nora’s assistant – a well-dressed dog puppet – replies, “Yes, my friends, we are all precious in the eyes of God, and each one of you is unique and special to Him.”

SAT-7 has launched a new project designed to equip and encourage young people in Egypt to invest themselves in their local communities and wider society and to promote the social conditions that will enhance their freedoms.

Our young viewers share about their favourite programs and what they've learned through the Arabic-speaking children's channel, SAT-7 KIDS.
