SAT-7 ARABIC BRINGS HOPE TO ISOLATED WOMEN

In many parts of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) women feel isolated and alone with no access to the gospel or to other Christian believers. SAT-7 helps isolated women connect to their faith through Christian programming provided in their dialect. Sarah, an Algerian viewer, shares how SAT-7 helps her stay connected to her faith.

“Before I became a Christian, my life was a mess,” shares 60-year-old Sarah. “God saved me from darkness. Now I’m a believer and I have hope. Jesus has transformed my life and I see His hand at work.”

HOPE IN THEIR OWN DIALECT

“My friends and I love watching SAT-7’s Algerian-dialect shows,” shares Sarah. “We fellowship together and connect to our faith through programs in our own dialect.”

Although Sarah can understand other forms of Arabic, she only actually speaks the local tongue. “Programs in our dialect are very easy for us to absorb, and they bring hope to our hearts.”

Sarah and her friends especially love the women’s programs presented by Samia Kessai, a local SAT-7 Presenter and Producer.

A favourite is You are Precious, which Sarah watches every week. The show, which tackles difficult social issues in which women often remain voiceless, also has Kabylie subtitles for Amazigh (Berber) viewers.

“We are blessed by this program,” Sarah says. “Samia speaks for us Christian women. Many people have testified that they’ve been transformed by watching her program. She is amazing. Whenever she speaks, God uses her.”

“I ASK GOD TO WORK IN MY HEART”

SAT-7’s counselling teams also help women to grow in their faith and offer helpful advice and prayer for sensitive issues. “Many women call the number on-screen to seek help for their marriages,” Sarah adds.

As for Sarah herself, she is now experiencing the joy of being able to support and share her renewed hope and faith with others as a mother figure to many other women in her church.

“I ask God to work in my heart, so I can be a mother to all of them. Everything is for the glory of Jesus Christ,” she says.
