CHURCH BOMBING IN CAIRO, EGYPT

SAT-7 mourns with thousands of Christians over the bombing of St Peter’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Cairo, Egypt. On 11 December 2016, explosives were planted inside the cathedral and detonated, killing 25 people.

Among those killed were two family members of a SAT-7 employee. This is the worst single terror attack since 2011.

The bombings have rocked the Christian community to its core. SAT-7’s Arabic Channels Director George Makeen comments, “as a minority, [Christians] feel more threatened and vulnerable.”

SUPPORT IN TIMES OF TROUBLE

Amid this tragedy, SAT-7 remains supportive of its viewers. The satellite television network filmed and broadcasted the funeral service and has scheduled several live shows to address current affairs related to the bombing. The SAT-7 ARABIC live program Bridges will air this evening and invite guests to tackle a variety of issues pertaining to the explosions. On tonight’s live broadcast from the Freedom Meeting, Maher Samuel, one of Egypt’s best-known preachers, will tackle this incident and related issues in his sermon.

Please pray for those who have lost loved ones in these attacks and pray for peace during this season which should be a joyous celebration of Christ’s birth. Pray that those that have sustained injuries will have a quick recovery, and that God will comfort in these days of mourning.

“[For] He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” –Psalm 147:3
