EDUCATION – A HUMAN RIGHT
More than 21 million young people in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are either out of school or at risk of missing out on education. Of this number, more than13 million children are receiving no schooling at all.
4.5 million children are out of school in Syria and Iraq, where conflict has destroyed large parts of the education system. As the violence expands, millions more are at risk of becoming a “lost generation” deprived of the knowledge and skills needed to be successful adults.
Recognising the educational challenges in the MENA, SAT-7 is moved to address them by offering a variety of educational programs on all its channels. We are also working with organisations on the ground to provide satellites and TVs in refugee camps and schools, to give more people the opportunity to watch SAT-7’s educational programming. A society without proper education, hope for a better future, understanding and acceptance of other people, will remain mired in conflict. SAT-7’s aim is to address these needs by offering a wholesome education, based on Christian and internationally recognised values. We aim to offer the right tools, encourage a positive mind-set and, above all, give young people hope.
