“SAT-7 HELPED US LOVE THE WORD OF GOD!”

Michael and Salah fled to Egypt with their families to escape desperate situations in their home country, Sudan. They share how God has been faithful to them through their struggles, and how SAT-7’s Sudanese programs have strengthened them in their hour of need and helped them stay connected to their roots.

Michael, 32, and Salah, 44, both left Sudan with their wives and children to seek a better life in Egypt. When asked about conditions in Sudan, Michael shares how his normal life got turned upside down: “After 2010, life in Sudan became difficult with civil unrest, economic crisis, and political turmoil. It was becoming worse every day.”

When Michael visited his extended family in Sudan two months ago, he was shocked to see how difficult the situation is. “There is so much inflation! It is very difficult to find provisions and food, and unemployment is very high.”

Salah also shared what he witnessed in Sudan during times of unrest. “Life was difficult and unsafe. People were being falsely accused and attacked, even in their own homes. I feel that my family and I are safe in Egypt. When we respect the country that hosts us, God protects and blesses us.”

Both Michael and Salah now work as school teachers, and they are both pursuing studies in Theology.

“My wife loves to watch SAT-7 ARABIC, especially the episode of the Sudanese Pastor Flimon Hassan on the Keep on Singing program,” says Salah.
“SAT-7 IS LIKE A CHURCH IN OUR HOMES”

“We have been watching SAT-7 since before we left Sudan. It’s a very special channel. It’s like a church in our homes. We get to attend church meetings and services on SAT-7 while we sit at home,” shares Michael. “SAT-7 helped us love the word of God and study it. All the programs are useful both spiritually and practically.”

Michael and his family regularly enjoy watching the variety of teaching programs that are of special interest to Michael. “I like programs such as School of Christ, Meeting at the Brethren Church, Keep on Singing, and many other programs.”

ENCOURAGED BY PROGRAMS IN THEIR OWN DIALECT

SAT-7 ARABIC’s program Critical Issues, is presented by a Sudanese host who Michael and Salah can relate to. “It’s a good program because it addresses the Sudanese people in their own dialect; it is a great encouragement to viewers in Sudan.”

“Theological programs are very important for viewers,” says Salah. “Sudanese viewers have a lot to gain from watching these programs.”
