SAT-7 KIDS VIEWERS CRY OUT TO GOD FOR SYRIA – WILL YOU?
As fresh violence devastates northern Syria, the children’s worship program Family of Jesus is uniting its young viewers in heartfelt prayer for the country. Will you join SAT-7 KIDS viewers in crying out to God?
As news broke of a Turkish offensive that has killed Syrian civilians and displaced an estimated 100,000 people, a live broadcast of Family of Jesus showed hurting Syrian children they have not been forgotten.
In the episode on 12 October, presenter Milad Awad first shared some background about Syria’s history, particularly its significant role in early Christianity. Then, with powerful words of prayer, he led the way for children across the region to turn to God.
Will you echo these young hearts with the words of his prayer?
Lifting up the hurting
“Lord, we pray for your protection over all the people who are suffering now in Syria because of the attack,” he began.
“Lord, guide the families who were forced to flee from their homes and have no place to go.
Lord, protect the children who were displaced from their home in fear.
Lord, heal the injured.
Lord, heal all those in shock and who woke up to the attacks in fear.
Lord, console them and assure them that You are with them in their difficult circumstances.”
“Let them know You”
As Milad drew to a close, regular presenter Mina Awny and children from the show’s worship team began to echo each line of his prayer.
“Lord, we pray for your peace, joy and glory in Syria,” Milad said.
“Lord, we pray that Syrians will rejoice once again and sing to You.
Lord, just as Syrians were the first to know You before, let them experience You again.
Lord, show yourself to the Syrians just as you did with Paul.
Lord, let them know You, and know that You love them.”
The episode is receiving a strong response from viewers, including in Syria.
“Syria and its people love you, Family of Jesus,” writes a viewer in Damascus.
“I trust that every prayer has risen to northern Syria and it is heard and answered in the name of the Lord Jesus,” another says. “We, and our family in Egypt, love you very much.”
Part of God’s family
Since the show’s launch in 2018, Family of Jesus has been showing young Christians that no matter where they live – or what is happening there – they are a valued part of God’s family. This has often included praying for Syria.
In 2018, the show took a live call from Dana, a young Syrian girl. “We need your prayers for us,” she said. “We are assured of God’s faithfulness and protection. In the middle of this war, He’s kept us safe.”
“Don’t stop praying”
Later that year, the Family of Jesus team visited Syria, holding special children’s worship events there to encourage youngsters and broadcasting their testimonies.
In Tartous, on Syria’s western coast, the team met a young boy whose words have evidently stayed with them.
“Don’t stop praying,” Jameel said. “I advise everyone to pray all the time.”
Jesus said, “If two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). As Jameel asks, please join us in praying for Syria today.
