ROLE MODELS OF GIVING

SAT-7 KIDS’ program presenters and crew are putting their words into practice, by being shining examples of Jesus’ teachings on the importance of giving.

“Giving is not just about money and material things. When you give joy and happiness to others, it is a great gift,” says Mounir Zakhary, Producer of Praise Factory.

A special episode of Praise Factory was recently filmed at a Children’s Cancer Hospital to demonstrate the subject of giving.

“I chose to celebrate my birthday among the children at the Children’s Cancer Hospital and spend time with them,” says Mounir. “Although I brought a cake to treat them, they surprised me by bringing me a cake to celebrate my birthday!”

This special episode of Praise Factory focused on the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 25:

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes, and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ (Mathew 25:34-36)

GIVING IN LOVE

The presenters of the program, Ramez Nady and Jolie Kamal discussed how Jesus emphasised the importance of giving to others, as a representation of our love for God.

“God doesn’t value what we give by the quantity. We must offer to others from our own things and give them discreetly without making a public scene,” says Jolie. The presenters went on to explain to the children that giving is not restricted only to money; that they can give their time, efforts, visiting people who are sick, or even using their talents and skills to serve the Lord.

Another kids program called AS News broadcast a video report showing young children raising money for their Sunday School activities by setting up a booth of food and drinks. The team of two boys and a girl set up the booth once a month after church service to sell the food and collect funds.

PUT INTO PRACTICE

It is not all about teaching but also practice. SAT-7 KIDS crew practised giving as well. A member of the team gave his wristwatch to a young man with disabilities who was at an orphanage where the crew was filming.

SAT-7 crew member Regan Farouk giving his wristwatch to a young man and helping him wear it.

“I had received this wristwatch as a gift from my church. When the young man asked for a watch, I was happy to give it to him because I felt it was God’s gift for me to give to others. God intended for me to have it to do good with it and give it to someone else,” Regan Farouk, SAT-7 KIDS crew member, says.
