FAMOUS TENOR SINGS FOR SAT-7 ACADEMY
On Thursday 7 June an exciting musical event is raising awareness of SAT-7 ACADEMY. The talented Norwegian tenor Sveinung Hølmebakk is performing at a free promotional concert in Lebanon to raise awareness of SAT-7 ACADEMY’s work in the Middle East. During his time in Lebanon, Hølmebakk is also visiting the SAT-7-supported CHILD Centre for refugee children.
Hølmebakk is one of Norway’s best-known artists in his genre. Alongside his successful solo career, the singer and songwriter has performed for 15 years with the popular trio the Nordic Tenors.
Hølmebakk’s special, one-night-only performance for SAT-7, features well-known pieces such as “O Sole Mio”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, “You Raise Me Up”, and “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, as well as several songs in Norwegian/Swedish.
For his performance of “Santa Lucia”, Hølmebakk is joined by a young choir from the Demeure des Muses Art Academy in Beirut. The school is also kindly providing the electric piano for the performance.
A BEAUTIFUL VENUE
The concert is set to be held at the Theatre of Maison de Jeunes et de la Culture in Zouk Mikael, a town around 18km from Beirut. Short clips will be shown live on SAT-7 ACADEMY’s Facebook page and will also be recorded by SAT-7 ACADEMY.
Guests have been invited from local NGOs, embassies, and schools as well as from the media.
The event is also being held in partnership with the Zouk Mikael Municipality, which is generously allowing SAT-7 to use the venue, and with the Maison de la Culture et des Jeunes, a local youth cultural centre.
A HEART FOR CHILDREN
Hølmebakk is visiting Lebanon to learn more about SAT-7 ACADEMY’s work to provide holistic educational programming for children in the Middle East and North Africa, where 13 million children are out of school.
Along with representatives of Norea Media Ministry, a SAT-7 Partner, the singer will visit the CHILD Centre in the mountain town of Ehden on 8 June.
At the centre, Syrian refugee children learn from SAT-7 ACADEMY’s programming in a loving environment where they also receive social and psychological support. During his visit, Hølmebakk plans to spend time with the children and sing with them.
Hølmebakk’s performance will be broadcast on SAT-7 ACADEMY on 1 September, for the first anniversary of the channel’s launch.
When the singer returns to Norway, he intends to hold fundraising concerts for SAT-7 ACADEMY’s work. There are also plans to produce a documentary about Hølmebakk’s visit to Lebanon.
The concert begins at 20:00 local time. Tickets are free and must be reserved in advance by calling (+961) 09-213 217 or (+961) 81-337 399.
