Refugees: Being heard, finding hope
Many displaced people have desperate needs for spiritual support and practical help. Yet so often they are not crushed by their hardships, and even have impressive and inspiring stories to tell. This year SAT-7 is marking World Refugee Day on Monday 20 June by sharing their stories and how our programs and projects are supporting them.
NEW FESTIVAL NURTURES FILM-MAKING THAT CHANGES LIVES
Film can change the way we understand and look at life. This is the thinking behind SAT-7’s use of drama in productions like Backstage and a forthcoming TV film, Toxic, whose characters are looking for healing from the various forms of rejection and violence they have experienced. It is also one of the reasons for SAT-7’s support for a new short film competition for young Christian film-makers in Egypt and the Arab World.
SAT-7 PARS SUPPORTS AFGHANS TO FIND HOPE AND FREEDOM
Escalating restrictions on women’s freedoms, a return to repressive rule, broken promises for girls’ education, a collapsed economy, and one of the worst humanitarian crises of today’s world have stripped people in Afghanistan of their hopes for the future. SAT-7 PARS is ramping up its efforts and making new connections to respond to these increasingly desperate needs.
“OBSTACLE OVERCOMERS” HELP CHANGE THE DISABILITY NARRATIVE
Life can be very difficult for people with disabilities in Turkey, with exclusion from society often among the challenges they face. This year, SAT-7 TÜRK’s program Obstacle Overcomers is providing a space for people with disabilities, and their loved ones, to contribute to the changing narrative on disability.
YOUNG ARAB VIEWERS “ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE” ON SAT-7 KIDS
Gaining a deeper understanding of the Bible can be life-changing – and SAT-7 KIDS viewers are now witnessing this on-screen through a new gameshow. Creating an atmosphere of excitement, healthy competition, and laughter, Challenge Accepted helps young viewers grow in faith as they play along with the participants.
PERSIAN SONGWRITING BORNE OF SUFFERING
A SAT-7 series is producing new worship songs for the suffering Iranian Church, written by a martyr’s son in collaboration with Iranian Christian refugees in Turkey.

SHARING THE EASTER MESSAGE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

He really loves you.” These words, from the child presenters of the SAT-7 KIDS program Bedtime Stories, are a touching example of the Easter messages SAT-7 is sharing in various ways across the Middle East.
