YOUR DOCTOR AVAILABLE ON THE TV
SAT‑7 is producing and broadcasting a series of short medical, education segments. One of these segments, Your Doctor, is presented by Dr. Hany Keylada, an expert on refugee issues who has served on the medical frontlines in war-torn Syria and Iraq. During three years in country, he trained more than 120 refugee community leaders to be “substitute doctors” when no other medical help was available.
The bite-size episodes are five minutes long and are designed to be easily downloaded onto smartphones through social media. They present information on first aid and emergency healthcare, as well as educate refugees about disease prevention and protection, plus provide information regarding trauma, mental health and lifestyle issues, such as blood pressure and cholesterol.
Dr. Keylada knows the effectiveness of such training from personal experience. He shared, “As an example, on two occasions I got injured in the field and didn’t have a physician to help me. I trusted my life to the people I had trained and told them ‘You can do this; I trust you.’ They did a great job in managing the situation.”
By educating people to make better choices physically, mentally, and spiritually, we build a better community as a whole. A community of trust, hopeful for the future. You are a great piece of this community. Your prayers and support mean the world to Christians an ocean away.
