Some village churches, being poor, do not have a formal Sunday school. Children from the village simply gather in a room and watch SAT-7 KIDS. This is the realization that inspired Mounir Zakhary, the SAT-7 Children’s Producer in Egypt, to create a program called Message from a Sunday School.

Message from a Sunday School is designed to reach children outside of Cairo with the love of Jesus. On 30th May a SAT-7 crew traveled to Fayoum Governorate in Egypt to record a chapel service and children’s testimonies.

The chapel service took place at Al-Salam School, a school of about 1,400 students. During weekly chapel, children who choose to attend are taught messages of love and forgiveness, as well as everyday life lessons. After filming the chapel service, the crew headed to Fayoum Oasis to record children’s testimonies and the Sunday school at The Presbyterian Church of Fayoum.

Marina, a 14-year-old, shared her testimony as a child who has struggled with illness. As a diabetic for several years,Marina shared that she used to be unhappy and have low self-esteem. At the time, she did not understand why God would let this illness enter her body. However, she said that as she got older, she understood that God loves her in spite of the illness. Marina gave a message to other diabetic children on camera, saying, “God loves you. Trust Him… hold on to Him because He will always be by your side... Don’t let your illness defeat you but conquer it with your faith in God.”
