Supporting the Church of the Middle East and North Africa

In 1900, Christians made up twenty percent of the population in the Middle East. Today that number is less than five percent. There are Christians in every nation in the region, but the largest communities live in Lebanon, Syria, Israel/Palestine, Egypt and Jordan. Sadly, in some areas, such as Bethlehem and parts of Iraq, the original Christian communities, those whose roots reach back to Christ and the apostles, may well disappear in the near future. This is a reality that is difficult to face and counter, both emotionally and practically.

Just imagine celebrating Christmas in the land of Christ’s birth when that land is void of Christians. Even still, our reasons for celebrating are eternal, as is our hope that Christianity will flourish throughout that holy land. And there is more good news. Tools for promoting the Gospel are at our disposal. Satellite TV is one of the best means to support, encourage and educate these Christian communities. Often it is the only way to reach millions of people who live in isolated regions. Over 500 million people inhabit the region, and nearly half of the total population has access to satellite television.
